The store is part of our working homestead. We raise most of our fruits and vegetables and part of our meat.
We have an herb garden, 3 main vegetable gardens, bramble fruits, an heirloom orchard and 2 greenhouses.
We have goats, sheep, geese, chickens, turkeys seasonally, a cat and 3 dogs. We have chosen this lifestyle because of the severe food allergies and celiac disease that runs in our family. Pure food is the mainstay of our health. To be able to do this lifestyle we have had to learn many heritage skills. I have to say there is never a dull moment.
We have 2 children; Joe just finished his MBA at WIU, he earned his Bachelor's in Physics. Joe is our computer and accounting support. Sarah graduated this May from highschool. She was homeschooled. She is attending Quincy University double majoring in Pre-med and English with a special interest in Microbiology. Sarah runs the bakery and has taken over the orchard and herb garden. She is also spins and weaves. (We do offer homeschool advice and support.)
